Start with their wishes and a budget that feels good

Your wedding outfit is packed, the travel plans are made, and now you’re thinking about the gift. Something lovely for the two of them, without another big box to get through an airport. There are so many sweet ways to do it.

Look at the couple’s wedding website or gift list first. They may have chosen presents, named a fund or asked for no gifts. Let that guide you. If they’ve said no presents, a warm card can carry your happy wishes without finding a way around their request.

Choose an amount you can comfortably give, with the cost of being there in mind too. A wedding trip can already take quite a bit of planning and money. Your gift doesn’t need to match anyone else’s or prove how happy you are for the couple.

If you can’t attend, you can still send something they would welcome. A gift from their list, money towards a named plan or a digital present with a personal note can help you mark the day from home.

Think about the couple when the trip is over too

The wedding being abroad tells you where they’re celebrating. It doesn’t tell you everything they love. They might travel often, or this one place might matter because of family, a memory or a view they fell for together.

Think about the two of them at home as well. Would they enjoy a day out, a book of their photos, something useful they’ve chosen or one less job after the trip? The idea that makes you think “that sounds like them” is a lovely place to start.

Then check the parts you don’t know. They can choose a date for an experience, the photo for their wall or the size of a wanted suitcase. Giving them room to finish those choices can make the present easier to enjoy.

A little map or travel theme can be sweet when it fits their story. The personal part is your reason for choosing it. A line about a trip you shared or the plans they keep talking about will say much more than a plane printed on the wrapping.

1. Photos from a day they choose together

For a couple who loves exploring, photos with both of them in the picture can be a lovely gift. Our photoshoot wedding gift card gives money towards a separately planned shoot. It isn’t photography for the wedding ceremony or reception.

They can tell us where and when they would like the photos. We help plan with them and confirm the location, date, photographer and package. The time and number of edited pictures come from that confirmed package, so leave a fixed hour or picture count out of your card.

Picture a walk through a city they love or a little time by the sea, with someone helping make the photos while they enjoy being together. That could be on a honeymoon, a future trip or nearer home, depending on what’s available and what they choose.

The card pays towards the photoshoot. Check any extra costs for travel, transport, access to the place or permits before booking; a hotel stay is separate too. We agree the real details with the couple, so they know what their chosen day will include.

2. A wedding album they can fill with their favourites

The wedding trip can come home as pages they open together. Our wedding-album gift card gives an amount towards a book the couple chooses with us. They confirm the size, pages, finish and exact price before going ahead.

They can use their own photographer’s full-size photos or a suitable gallery, with permission to print them. We make the first complete design and work through their changes without a fixed limit before final approval. Making the book starts after they approve it.

There’s no need to choose their private pictures or cover in secret. Give the amount with your kind words now, then let them find the faces, views and little moments they love. If you’d like to cover the whole album, agree the book and budget first.

It could be such a lovely evening back at home: the bags finally put away, the photos open and the two of them choosing what belongs on the pages.

3. Money towards a honeymoon plan they’ve shared

If the couple has named a honeymoon fund, it can be a helpful way to join in with their plans. They might be saving for a meal, a day out or a little more room in the trip budget. Use the actual fund they’ve shared and check how they can use the money.

Read any fees, country or currency rules before paying. A fund name doesn’t always tell you whether the couple receives cash, a booking or credit for one company. Let the real terms guide what you write.

Your note can stay warm and simple: “For a lovely little part of the adventure you’re planning together.” Name a specific activity only if that’s what the gift really pays for.

4. An experience with a date left for them to choose

A food walk, dinner, workshop or spa visit can give them something sweet to look forward to. Start with an interest they share, then check the place, booking window, expiry and what’s included.

Leave the date with them where possible. They may already have plans for the morning after the wedding or want a day with nothing booked. A gift can feel much easier when it fits around their trip.

If you don’t know their destination or dates, ask before buying a place-specific voucher. You can keep the idea as a surprise while checking enough to know they’ll be able to enjoy it.

5. A wanted gift waiting at home

The lovely answer may be a pan, lamp, coffee maker or sheets they’ve already picked. A wedding abroad can still be celebrated with something for everyday life once the trip is over.

Choose from their gift list where possible. Check the delivery address and timing, and let the list record the purchase if it has that feature. That helps you give the item they wanted without adding another of the same thing.

Add your own line in the card: “For slow breakfasts and many lovely mornings together.” A useful present can feel very personal when you connect it to the life they’re making.

6. One gift from a group of friends

Friends can bring their money together for a wanted experience, album or gift-list item. Pick one organiser, agree what feels comfortable and make joining optional. You can collect little messages for one card too.

If you collect money yourselves, check whether your chosen service allows different amounts and what happens with fees or a smaller total. Travaya’s direct group payment instead splits the chosen amount equally between 2–10 people. Each gets a payment link, and the card is issued and emailed after everyone has paid.

Plan the handover around what is actually ready. One clear gift and a card full of familiar names can be a lovely thing to give together.

7. Art with a little piece of the destination

A drawing of the venue, a map or art connected to the place can be lovely for a couple who enjoys that style at home. Think about what they already choose for their walls, rather than only what matches the wedding.

Ask about size, colours or framing if you’re unsure. An unframed print still needs to fit their space and taste; a digital artwork still needs a plan for printing it. Let them help with those details if they would like to.

You can send the finished piece to a confirmed home address. A small note explaining why the place made you think of them can travel with it.

8. A journal for the stories they like to keep

A small journal or book for notes and photos can suit people who already save tickets, write notes or make a book after a trip. Look for something that fits the way they enjoy keeping memories.

Begin with a note or a photo from a journey you shared, then leave the pages for them. It could hold the tiny things a photo doesn’t: what they ate, a funny wrong turn or the words they want to remember.

If they’ve never enjoyed writing things down, choose another idea with the same care. The nicest journal is one they’ll want to open, with no task attached.

9. A welcome-home meal or a little help

After the travel and unpacking, a wanted meal can be a very kind gift. You could arrange a dinner delivery or contribute towards food they choose when they’re back.

Check their return date, food preferences and how they’d like to receive it. If you’re thinking about cleaning help or putting food in their home, ask first. The gift works best when it’s help they actually want and a person they’re happy to let in.

The card might say: “For the first evening back, when the bags can wait a little longer.” It’s a sweet way to care for the ordinary part after the big celebration.

10. Travel things they’ve already chosen

A suitcase, packing cubes or travel bag can be useful for people who travel often. Size, weight and style are personal, though. A gift-list item or clear request is a much better clue than the wedding having an airport nearby.

Confirm when and where they want it delivered. If it’s for the wedding trip, it needs to arrive with enough time for them to use it. Otherwise, send it home for a future journey.

A little message about the adventures ahead can make a practical choice feel warm, while the actual bag stays the one they wanted.

11. A private little collection of messages

Invite a few loved ones to send a memory, a wish or a short video for the couple. This can be lovely when some people can’t be at the wedding. Keep the request small so it’s easy to join in.

Bring the messages into one easy-to-open file or folder. Check that everyone agrees to how their message will be shared, keep private stories out of public posts and give the couple access to the files they can save.

You could add your own first line: “A few familiar voices, sending so much love for your day.” There’s no box to pack, just words and faces from people who wanted to be part of it.

12. One small thing that brings the place back

A little piece of art or something small for their home made in the area can hold a sweet link to the destination. Choose by the couple’s taste and what they would enjoy keeping, rather than simply buying something with the place name on it.

Think about how it will travel. Something fragile, heavy or awkwardly shaped may be easier to send later. You could give a postcard of it at the wedding, then let the real piece arrive when they’re home.

It can also sit beside a digital gift as a little clue: a small drawing with an experience card, or a postcard with money towards their album. One thing with a real reason behind it can be plenty.

Give the lovely moment and keep the luggage light

A handwritten card can give the couple something to open at the wedding. Tell them what the gift is and how they can find or receive it. Bigger presents can go to a confirmed address at a time that works for them.

For a Travaya card paid for in one payment, you can email it after payment, schedule it or download a PDF. With direct group payment, the card is issued and emailed after all the equal shares are paid. Choose your giving moment around the real delivery route.

Travaya cards are valid for 24 months. The couple can pay any difference in price, and unused credit stays available until it is used or expires. They can discuss a photoshoot, prints or wall art instead if their plans change, with the actual option and price confirmed with us.

For other experiences or gifts, check their own terms and delivery details. A card can explain a future present honestly if it isn’t ready. The couple gets your words now, with a clear idea of what comes next.

Make the message sound like it came from you

Start with one true reason for the gift. Perhaps you love hearing about their trips, remember a place you visited together or know how much they enjoy looking through old photos. That small connection is what makes your words their own.

For photos, you could write: “We love hearing about the places you find together. This is towards some pictures with both of you in them, wherever your next lovely day takes you.” Add the actual card amount and let them choose the confirmed plan with us.

For a gift at home: “For the everyday moments after the big adventure. We’re so happy to celebrate you both.” For a named fund, connect your wish to what the fund really allows.

They might choose their first anniversary, a favourite walk near home or a future trip. Leave the lovely choice with them. When they’re ready, we’ll help explore what is available for the kind of photos they would enjoy.
