Turn Their Wedding Photos Into a First Anniversary Album

A year married, and so many little moments to look back on. An album could be a lovely way to bring their wedding photos home! Find out how to plan a first-anniversary gift, leave the photo choices with the couple and make the reveal special, even when the finished book comes later!

A lovely reason to open their wedding photos again

Imagine the couple looking through their wedding pictures a year later. Someone in the background is making a face they hadn’t noticed. A quiet photo brings back a whole conversation. Then there’s the dancing, which may be even better now that everyone has had time to recover from it.

The first anniversary can give those photos a lovely new occasion. If the couple would enjoy an album and hasn’t made one yet, your gift can help it happen. A book lets them bring the big moments and little discoveries together, ready to look through at home.

There’s a sweet link to the gift tradition too. Paper is the traditional first-anniversary gift on Hallmark’s list. An album can be a personal way to use that idea, if the couple enjoys it. Their own wishes are the best place to begin.

Our wedding-album gift card lets you give an amount towards the book they choose with us. They confirm the album and its price, then make the personal photo and design choices. It’s money towards their album, rather than a fixed package you have to choose for them.

Ask quietly whether a book is already made or included with their photographer. If it is, a smaller family copy or a print may be something they would love instead. Check with the right maker what is possible and what it costs, so your gift adds something they actually want.

Decide what you would like to give on the date

Start with the anniversary date and the giving moment you have in mind. Would you love them to open a finished book that day, or open a card and enjoy choosing the album afterwards? Either can give the celebration a lovely focus, but they need different plans.

For a finished book, ask the maker for a current estimate before promising the date. The complete photos, the couple’s choices, the design feedback and the book itself all affect timing. The estimate for their chosen book gives you a useful place to begin.

Leave time for the couple to look through the design properly. They may spot a photo to swap after seeing the pages together, or want to discuss the cover. Allow enough time for them to enjoy those choices and reply when they’re ready.

If you hope to have the finished book on the date, tell the couple about the gift early enough for them to choose the photos and approve the pages. The idea of the album will be known, but your card can still hold a lovely message for the day. It helps to agree which reveal matters most before putting dates in the diary.

If the anniversary is close, give the card on the day and let the finished book follow. You can add a note about the lovely evening they’ll have choosing the photos. There’s no need to rush their favourite page just to get it inside a parcel in time.

Tip: Plan the reveal around the actual book. Ask for the current making and delivery estimate before promising a finished album for the anniversary. A personal card can carry the gift first.

Let the couple share the right photographs

They can use wedding photos from their own photographer. They’ll need the full-size files or a suitable gallery, with permission to have the photos printed with us. If they’re unsure, their photography agreement or photographer can help them check.

Let the couple share the chosen photos themselves. You can give the gift without borrowing their gallery password or looking through pictures they would rather keep private. They get to choose what goes into the book, and we help them with the best way to send the files.

Small images from messages or social media may not have enough detail for a big printed page. Original full-size photos give the design a better starting point. Keep the full set safely with a backup too, even though only some will become album pages.

Tip: A note from you can make the gift personal while the couple keeps the photo choices. You don’t need their private gallery to give them something lovely.

Find the pictures that bring back their day

A year later, the photos they love most may be clearer. Perhaps they keep going back to the vows, or there’s a little moment from dinner that always makes them laugh. Start with those pictures, then look at the parts of the day they want the album to hold.

Getting ready, arriving at the ceremony, the people watching, the portraits, the tables and the dancing can each have a place. They don’t need the same number of pictures from every part. Choose the moments that make it feel like their wedding, in an order they enjoy following.

If several photos are almost the same, put them beside each other and find the one they prefer. One tiny smile can settle the choice. Give the favourites room in the design, with smaller moments together where that works well. There isn’t a perfect final photo count before you know the book size and pages.

Make the first look something to enjoy together. Dinner nearby, a screen they can both see and time to say, “Do you remember this bit?” They spent parts of the wedding in different places, so they may still have little stories to tell each other about the pictures.

We help bring their selection into a first design. They can then see how the photos work as pages, rather than trying to imagine the whole book from a folder of files.

Keep the gift reveal sweet, and the finished pages theirs

Your surprise can be the card, the personal message and the moment you give it. Over dinner, with a morning coffee or during a quiet visit, tell them you’d love to help their wedding photos become a book. They don’t have to open a finished album for the gift to feel like an occasion.

With Travaya, the couple chooses the album with us and confirms its exact price. You give an amount towards it, and they can pay any difference. If you would like to cover the whole book, agree the budget and details first so the promise is clear.

We make the first complete design with the photos they have permission to print. Then they look through it together, ask for changes and give the final approval before the book is made. There is no fixed limit on changes before that approval.

The photos, cover, names, words and private moments stay theirs to choose unless they’ve asked you to help. You can add a favourite memory in your note and still leave every page open to their wishes. The thoughtful part from you and the personal part from them can sit very happily in the same gift.

Choose the book they’ll enjoy holding

Look at the actual size of the book, how the pages feel and how it opens. A large album may be lovely on a table; a smaller one may be easier to pick up on the sofa. Ask to see a sample or clear examples, so the choice is about the real book rather than its label.

For photos across two facing pages, see how the middle looks when the book is open. Check where faces and important little details sit in the design. Then choose a page count that gives the favourite photos space, and a cover in a material and colour the couple would enjoy.

We discuss the available sizes, pages and finishes with them and confirm the price. If they change those details, we confirm any cost and timing changes too. Smaller family albums or extra copies can also be discussed, with the actual choices and price agreed before ordering.

Before final approval, check any names and dates on the cover with the couple too. A small detail is much easier to change on the design than after the book is made. Then confirm the size, pages, final price and delivery details together.

Once the book arrives, follow the maker’s care advice. A dry place away from direct sunlight and heat is a good start. Keep it somewhere they can enjoy taking it out, as well as putting it away safely. There may be a few Sunday afternoons and visiting friends who would love another look.

Give a lovely first reveal if the book will come later

A card on the anniversary gives them something to open now. You could write: “A year since your wonderful day, and so many photos still to enjoy. We’d love to help turn your favourites into an album. Choose the moments that feel like you two, and make it your own.” Add the actual gift amount or make the agreed gift clear.

If you pay yourself, you can email the Travaya card after payment, schedule it or download a PDF to give in person. Our group option splits the amount equally between 2–10 people, each with a separate payment link. The group card is emailed once everyone has paid, so plan around that if you’re giving together.

The card is valid for 24 months. They can use credit towards prints, wall art or a photoshoot instead if they prefer, and unspent money stays until it is used or expires. The gift can follow what they would enjoy rather than a book chosen before they’ve had a say.

Later, the finished album can have a moment of its own. The cover opens, the first photos appear and the couple has the book they helped make. Your anniversary gift has given them something to plan together and something they can keep opening afterwards.
