A new reason to remember Lake Como

This American couple were travelling through Europe when their trip became an engagement celebration. He had proposed the night before in Como, but they hadn’t taken any photographs of the moment. They booked an engagement photoshoot on Lake Como to celebrate together and make a collection of memories from this very special stop on their travels. We loved bringing their newly engaged chapter into these lovely lakeside settings.

Menaggio, with the lake all around

Menaggio gave us such a lovely mix of backdrops: warm-coloured buildings, cobbled streets, flowers along the railings and that broad sweep of water and mountains. We made room for all of it, from portraits on the rounded stone quay to photographs beneath the promenade trees. His light blue shirt and beige trousers complemented her white dress with dark dots, and both outfits looked lovely against the blue water, pale stone and pink flowers. The setting feels unmistakably Lake Como, while still leaving plenty of room for the couple.

Stone terraces and leafy paths

At Parco Civico Teresio Olivelli, the lake views sit alongside a different kind of detail. The balustrades, broad steps and carved stone walls brought lovely shapes and textures to the photographs, while the leafy paths added a softer green setting. We brought those wider park views together with closer portraits by the water, giving their gallery a mix of open scenery and beautiful architectural corners. Their light outfits looked just as lovely against the trees as they did against the old stonework.

A little reminder of the night before

Her engagement ring is a lovely thread through the collection, from small details by the water to portraits against the ornate stone terrace. The colour photographs keep the lake, flowers and greenery close; the black-and-white images draw out the stone textures and the couple together. A beautiful way to remember the beginning of their engagement, alongside the European trip that brought them here.
