Two years together, a lifetime of Lucca

Alice and Pablo both grew up in Lucca and met in their final year of high school. It was here that they fell in love, and this year they are celebrating their second anniversary together. We met them at seven on a June evening for a couple photoshoot in Lucca, capturing this chapter of their relationship in the city where it all began. School days, shared adventures and home are all tied to these streets.

An evening around their own city

Lucca already means so much to Alice and Pablo, which made it a lovely place to mark two years together. Around the city walls, we had green lawns, old brickwork and open paths to work with. The photographs here feel relaxed and spacious, with plenty of the city around them. Their playful energy made the walk feel easy, and the walls gave us a very different setting from the little streets inside.

Soft blue, flowers and warm Tuscan stone

Pablo’s pale blue shirt and Alice’s black floral dress looked beautiful against Lucca’s warm buildings and greenery. By the Duomo di San Martino, we made photographs beneath the trees with the bell tower above them. The mix of soft colours, tall trees and familiar architecture gave this part of the gallery a lovely sense of place, while leaving Alice and Pablo at the centre of it.

Little streets, lovely backdrops

The old town brought another side of Lucca into the shoot: carved stone windows, a flower-framed doorway and narrow lanes lined with shutters. Along Via del Fosso, the small brick bridges and canal made a beautiful setting for photographs together. We mixed wider views with closer portraits, and kept some black-and-white images too. For Alice and Pablo, the finished gallery brings together their second anniversary and the city that has been part of their relationship from the start.
