A lovely mix of Lucca

We spent time around Lucca with this couple, bringing together the green paths by the city walls, grand cathedral doorways and the little streets that make the old town so lovely. Their photoshoot in Lucca gave us room for both recognisable city views and closer photographs that kept the attention on the two of them.

Her flowing white dress and his olive shirt with light trousers worked beautifully with the surroundings. Against warm brick, pale stone and leafy trees, the colours felt simple and easy. It was a lovely combination for a gallery with quite a few different sides of the city.

Green paths and warm brick

Around the city walls, we made photographs beside the brick archways and out among the grass and trees, with San Frediano’s bell tower in the background. The greenery gave the shoot a softer feel, while the warm brick brought texture and colour. There was a lovely contrast between the wider views of Lucca and the close portraits here: the same place could give us an open, leafy backdrop or a much more intimate setting.

Grand doorways and an easy pace

The Duomo di San Martino gave us a different kind of backdrop, from the broad square to its richly carved wooden doors and stone steps. Her white dress looked especially lovely against the dark wood and pale stone. Piazza dell’Anfiteatro brought warm façades, a green bench and a little dancing, with the dress moving beautifully through the turns. We kept the photographs relaxed, letting the architecture add atmosphere without making every portrait feel the same.

The smaller corners belong in the story too

We also made time for the quieter details of the old town: pink flowers beside a green doorway, a narrow lane with Guinigi Tower above it, and a pause by the stone bridge on Via del Fosso. Those smaller settings added a different mood alongside the grand city views. Together, they made a lovely record of spending time in Lucca, with a mix of colour and black-and-white photographs to remember it by.
