A proposal in their favourite country

Italy was already this couple’s favourite country to visit together. While planning their holiday, he decided it was also the place where he wanted to ask her to marry him. He chose San Miniato al Monte, overlooking the rooftops and the Duomo, for their Florence proposal photoshoot. We joined them above the city to capture the big question and some lovely photographs of this new chapter together.

An Italian holiday with something extra

The country mattered just as much as the view. Italy was somewhere they loved returning to together, and he wanted the proposal to be part of that shared connection. At San Miniato al Monte, the rooftops spread out below the stone balustrade and the Duomo rose behind them. It was here that he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

Cream tones against the Florence skyline

Their soft, neutral outfits looked beautiful with the pale stone and warm colours of the city. Her cream dress and his light shirt kept the photographs feeling simple and relaxed, while the cathedral dome made the setting unmistakably Florence. We had the lovely combination of a wide city view and a couple with a very personal reason to be there.

Newly engaged, above the rooftops

We kept the rest of the shoot relaxed, making portraits around the balustrade and on the stone steps among the trees. The little turquoise ring box added a lovely detail to remember, and the cypress-lined stairway gave the gallery another setting without losing that Florence atmosphere. Colour and black-and-white photographs bring it all together: a holiday in their favourite country, now with an engagement to celebrate too.
