A Family Photoshoot around Big Ben and the London Eye

A London afternoon, three children and photographs to bring home to Albania.

A London afternoon to take home with them

This family from Albania wanted their photographs to be full of the London they had come to see: Big Ben, the London Eye, red double-decker buses and those wonderful red telephone boxes. With three children joining the adventure, we spent an afternoon exploring some of the city’s most recognisable views for their family photoshoot in London. The landmarks gave the photographs a sense of place; being in them together made them personal.

A little patience, and room for the whole family

London was busy around us, so we sometimes waited for a clear moment to make a photograph. The slightly cloudy afternoon gave us lovely soft light, and their cream and beige outfits looked beautiful against the warm stone and water. For this Travaya shoot, we combined portraits of the whole family with smaller combinations of parents and children. That way, Big Ben and the river became the setting for several different family memories, rather than just one group photograph.

From the river to a splash of red

The London Eye brought another unmistakable part of the city into the gallery. Beside the river, we photographed the family together and made time for the closer parent-and-child portraits, too. The red telephone boxes added a playful burst of colour against their light outfits, with the three children also getting a photograph of their own. It was a lovely way to bring the familiar sights into a family afternoon.

A favourite for their own wall

They were thrilled with the photographs and could not wait to choose a favourite for a large print at home, as well as share the images with family back in Albania. Their London visit would live on in something they could see every day: a photograph with all of them in it.
