The London that had become theirs

For this married couple from China, London was where their studies, work and life together had brought them. They wanted photographs to remember that chapter, somewhere that reflected their own experience of the city. Their favourite neighbourhood, Notting Hill, was the natural choice. Its colourful houses, little restaurants and lively streets were already part of what they loved about being here. Their couple photoshoot in London gave those familiar surroundings a place in their memories together.

A neighbourhood full of their favourite colours

They had carefully chosen their outfits to complement Notting Hill’s vibrant streets, and the result felt beautifully connected to the place. Her flowing dress brought blue, green and orange into the photographs; his white shirt and dark trousers kept the combination light and simple. Against pink mews houses, green front steps and bright blue doors, the colours worked wonderfully together. For their Travaya shoot, we made photographs that gave the neighbourhood room to be itself, combining wider views of its charming streets with closer portraits of the two of them.

A little walk, with plenty of character

The shoot became a relaxed walk through their favourite part of London, with its own lovely mix of settings: leafy brick doorways, a red postbox, the bookshop bench and painted shopfronts. We kept that variety in the photographs, from the sweep of a colourful street to a quiet embrace. Alongside the colour, black-and-white portraits draw attention to the two of them and the textures of the neighbourhood. They were absolutely delighted with the final photos. The gallery preserves what they had hoped for: special memories of their life together in a place that already meant something to them.
