What This Guide Covers

You may be thinking about a photograph of the bump, then realise you would love your older child in it too. They belong in this family chapter. Perhaps you would like a picture for an album they can look through later, with your family together before someone new joins you.

A maternity session can make room for that, alongside photographs of you and some with your partner. The plan starts with the children you are bringing and what you would enjoy doing together. A familiar hand, time to settle in and somewhere comfortable to pause can help everyone enjoy being there.

Here you will find help with the setting, your children's ages, an order for the session and the small things to bring. We can help you put those choices together. Tell us who is joining and which photographs you would most love to keep, and we will start there.

What Siblings Actually Need on Camera (By Age)

Your child's age can help start the conversation, but you know their day and personality best. Tell us what helps them feel comfortable, how they feel about new people and whether they need a little time to watch first. There is room to change the order once everyone arrives.

Around ages 1 to 2. Think about meals, naps, the journey and who your child likes to stay close to. They may prefer being with a familiar adult while they get used to the photographer. Tell us if sand, wind or a new place takes a little time. Our Dubai toddler photoshoot guide has more ideas for a flexible family outing and short breaks.

Around ages 3 to 5. You might explain the outing in a few simple words before you leave: you are going to spend some time together and have photographs taken. A favourite story, song or little chat may be a comfortable way to begin. Your photographer can offer an idea and see whether your child would like to join, with no particular answer or smile to produce.

Around ages 6 to 9. Ask what they would like to know about the day. They may want to see a photograph you have chosen, know who will be there or understand when you will be finished. Leave room for their own ideas too. A family photograph can feel more personal when the people in it have had a say.

Around ages 10 and up. Talk to your older child about the photographs and what they would feel happy doing. They may love being part of this stage or prefer a quieter place in the family pictures. Take their wishes seriously and share them with us. Knowing what the day will be like gives them something familiar to arrive with.

Use these age groups as a way to begin talking about your own child. A shy teenager and an eager toddler may need very different beginnings from the ones you first imagined.

Playful Shoreline Moments with Siblings

A beach can be a lovely setting if your family enjoys being by the sea. Choose the actual spot with us, including the walk from the car, space to pause and permission for the session. You can show us the photographs here that you like and tell us what would suit your family.

The Best Sibling Prompts for Maternity Photos

A little question can give everyone something familiar to talk about while the photographer helps with the pictures. Choose something your child would enjoy at home too. You can try one idea, follow their answer and leave the rest for another day.

They might like to tell you something about the baby, choose a story to read later or talk about a favourite song. A question such as “What would you like to teach the baby?” may suit a child who enjoys imagining life with a new sibling. Another child may be happier telling you about the sea in front of them or something that happened that morning.

If your family enjoys a short walk together, that can be part of the session as well. Your photographer can find a suitable place and help you work out where to go. You can stay with your children and enjoy being together, with gentle guidance when it is useful.

Your family can be close in its own way. Your child can choose whether to come nearer, stay beside a familiar adult or keep chatting where they are. Some families may enjoy a cuddle; others may like a little chat or a walk beside each other. Your child can help show us what feels comfortable.

You can also ask about the little things: would they like a pause, something to drink or a little more time with you? A short break can belong in the plan too. The photographer is there to help with the photographs, so you do not need to keep a list of prompts running in your head.

From Playful Prompts to Genuine Connection

Leave room for a little conversation, a pause and the way your own family likes to be together.

The 20-Minute Sibling Session Structure

Around 15 to 25 minutes can be a starting point for discussing the photographs with siblings. Agree how that part fits into your chosen package, including any walking and breaks. The time and order can change with what your family needs.

Often it helps to include the children early, while they have energy for the outing. If your child likes to watch a new place first, we can discuss a gentler start and change the order. It is nice to arrive with a plan and still have room for a slower beginning if someone needs it.

You might begin with a few photographs together, then give the children a pause while you have some of your own. Later there may be room for another family picture if they would like to join again. Tell us about the photographs that matter most so we can give those wishes a place in the session.

If you would like solo pictures or time with your partner, agree who will stay with the children during that part. Another familiar adult may help, if the plan works for your family. Arrange that before the day so you know who is staying with them while the photographer takes your pictures.

Our Dubai family preparation guide covers the journey, timing and useful things to bring. The aim is a session you can enjoy together, with the pauses already part of the conversation.

Movement, Cuddles, and the Hero Sibling Portrait

Plan for photographs together and a little time to rest between the parts you choose.

Dubai Tips That Make Sibling Photos Easier

Start with the weather and the way your family feels at different times of day. Sunrise may suit children who enjoy an early start, while a later session can fit a family who prefers more time after waking. The beach will still be shared with other visitors, and the weather needs its own check. Look at the forecast for your date, then talk with us about the setting and time.

You can use the Dubai sunrise and sunset calendar when discussing your date. It tells you when the sun rises and sets; your photographer will help agree the meeting time. A beautiful sky in somebody else's photographs can show us the feeling you like, with your own day's conditions still part of the plan.

Keep the journey from the car in mind. Ask where you will meet, what the ground is like and how far everyone will walk. Toilets, a place to sit and somewhere to cool down can make a difference to the outing. If your child would rather skip sand or wind, a suitable private indoor or studio-style setting may be worth discussing.

A small bag with water, a familiar snack, a spare outfit and a little towel for a beach visit can be useful. Bring what your family normally needs, and plan pauses before everyone has had enough. Agree which adult will stay with the children throughout, especially near the water.

Hotel beaches, studios and other managed spaces need their own access arrangements. Tell us the place you have in mind so we can help check permission for a professional photographer, the use of the space and any extra costs. Being a guest or visiting a public place does not by itself settle those details.

What to Do Instead of Posing

You can leave the camera choices with your photographer. Tell us what your family enjoys, what might take a little time and whether your child likes to be asked before trying something new. A little conversation with people they know can be a lovely way to begin. The photographer can offer guidance as everyone settles in.

Choose one comfortable outfit for each child, with a spare for practical needs rather than a long list of changes. Clothes they can move in leave more room to enjoy the outing. A few colours you all like can help you choose clothes that belong together. Everyone can still wear something that feels like them. Our Dubai maternity outfit guide looks at clothes, fabrics and settings for the parent-to-be too.

Before the day, tell us your preferred mix of family, partner and solo photographs. We can plan an order, a meeting point and time for a break, with a familiar adult staying with the children when you are having your own pictures. The plan can stay simple enough to change when someone needs a pause.

Perhaps the photograph you love most will be one of everyone together. Perhaps you would like your older child beside you in the album before their new sibling appears a few pages later. Those are lovely wishes to share with us. We can take care of the practical choices together so you can enjoy this little chapter with the people in it.

Connection Matters More Than Perfect Posing

Your family can have its own place in the photographs, alongside a few pictures just of you.
