One more little person on the way

Perhaps your child is already asking when the baby will be here. Perhaps they’re more interested in whether the baby will share their toys. There can be quite a lot to work out when you’re becoming a big brother or sister! A maternity photoshoot can keep a little picture of your family as it is now, with this next lovely person still on the way.

You might want all of you in the photographs, a few pictures with your partner and some that are just about you and the bump. Those wishes can belong in one session. The useful part is choosing a place and a plan that make sense for the people coming, rather than trying to fit your family into somebody else’s morning.

When you plan your Dubai maternity photos with us, we help bring the place, time and photographer together. Tell us who’s joining and what you’d most love to keep. We can start with that, then work through the little details with you.

Which pictures would you love to keep?

There’s the bump, of course. But there may also be a child who still fits on your lap, a partner who is about to become a parent again, or a little family holiday you’ve made time for before the baby comes. You can let those things belong in the pictures too.

Perhaps you’d love a photograph for the wall, where the baby pictures will join it later. Or you’re thinking of a little album, with this trip at the beginning and a new arrival a few pages on. The photographs you take now could have a lovely place beside the ones you haven’t made yet.

You may have a smaller wish as well: a picture to send home, or one your older child can point to when you talk about waiting for the baby. Tell us which ideas you love. It helps us plan the mix of photographs, and it gives the outing a reason that belongs to your family.

1. The beach: a little sea, sand and Dubai in the picture

If your idea begins with a dress by the sea and your family beside you, the beach is a lovely place to start. Water and sky give a wider photograph room to breathe, while closer pictures can still be about the faces you know best. You don’t need to visit several beaches to have both.

Sunset Beach, also called Umm Suqeim Beach, is the option to look at if you love the Burj Al Arab view. That familiar sail-shaped hotel can make the photographs feel very much part of your Dubai trip. Choose the actual entrance and photo spot with us; a beautiful view does not tell you how far the walk is or whether the route is right for you.

Kite Beach may appeal if you like the feeling of a beach outing, with things happening around you. It has beach activities and places to eat, so think of it as a shared holiday setting. Ask which part would suit your photos and how it fits the journey from where you’re staying. If a little food stop afterwards sounds nice, we can help choose a photo plan that fits it. The beach itself will be shared with other visitors.

Palm West Beach may catch your eye if you like the idea of beach photographs and something to eat afterwards. Visit Dubai’s Palm West Beach guide highlights its sunset scenes and dining options. We can discuss the exact photo spot and how it fits your day, then check the route, photography rules and the places to sit or change that you’d need.

If you hope to use your hotel’s beach, tell us the property first. Hotel access, permission for an outside photographer and any extra costs need to be confirmed for that actual session. A hotel beach may still have other guests, and having a room does not by itself reserve a space for photographs. Public beaches need their own professional photography checks too. Once those details are clear, you can choose the beach for the kind of outing you’d enjoy.

2. A private indoor setting: keep the day close and simple

Perhaps you love the idea of getting ready, arriving somewhere indoors and keeping the whole session in one place. A suitable private indoor or studio-style setting can give the photographs a different feeling from a beach visit. The room, the clothes and your family can be the main things in the picture.

This is worth discussing if air conditioning, a place to sit or more privacy matters to you. It may also suit a family who would rather skip sand and wind. Our indoor and outdoor maternity comparison looks more closely at that choice, if you’re still torn between the two.

Let’s choose the actual room with your family in mind. We can check how much space there is, the walk from the entrance and somewhere suitable to change. You’ll also want to know what use of the room is included in the price. “Studio-style” describes the look of the setting; hiring a whole studio is something to confirm separately.

Indoors can be lovely for smaller family photographs, especially if you’d like the setting to stay simple. Your child may still need a little time to settle into somewhere new. Tell us if you’d like to arrive a little early or keep the first part especially simple. It can help to have those wishes in the plan before you’re all standing at the door.

3. Dubai Creek Harbour: water with a city view

If you like Dubai’s tall buildings as much as its beaches, Dubai Creek Harbour is worth a look. This part of the city brings the water and modern buildings together. It gives you a different kind of holiday memory from standing on the sand.

The idea may suit you if you’d love a few wider pictures that show Dubai, alongside closer family and maternity photographs. There can be a lovely sense of the city carrying on around you. Perhaps it feels more like your family’s kind of outing than a trip to the dunes, and that is a perfectly good reason to put it on your list.

Plan a particular stretch with us rather than a long walk around the whole area. We’ll need to check the meeting point, the route and the rules for that exact photo spot. If you’re bringing a pushchair or would like somewhere to sit, make those part of the choice from the start. A paved waterfront can look simple in a photograph while still being some distance from where your car stops.

Choose it because you like the water and the city together. There’s no need to add the beach afterwards just to make the gallery feel complete. One setting you all enjoy can have plenty to say about this trip.

4. The desert: dunes and a little more of an outing

The desert gives you a different view again: sand dunes, open sky and far less of the city in the picture. If the colours and shapes are what caught your eye, it can be a beautiful idea for family maternity photographs. You might love having a wide photograph that feels so different from the places you walk past at home.

Think about the whole visit before choosing. The journey, where the car can stop and the distance over sand all matter when you’re travelling with a bump and children. A picture on a dune does not mean your own session has to involve climbing to a high point. Tell us the amount of walking you’d like, and we can check whether the proposed spot suits that plan.

Our Dubai desert maternity guide goes further into the place, timing and journey. Use it if the dunes are the idea you keep coming back to. The practical details should help you choose, rather than become a long list you have to solve by yourself.

For some families, the drive out and the change of scene are part of what they’d enjoy. For others, staying closer to the hotel will feel much nicer. You know your family better than a saved photograph does. Choose the outing you’d like to be part of, as well as the view you’d like to keep.

Who’s joining, and which pictures matter most?

Start with the people you want there. Your partner, one child, several children, or a little mix of family photographs and time just for you. You can be excited about including everyone and still want maternity pictures just of you. There’s room to say both.

If a toddler is coming, tell us what their days usually look like. We can plan a short family part when it makes sense, with room to change the order if needed. There isn’t a set number of minutes that works for every child. You can tell the photographer what they tend to enjoy and let the family part grow from there, with gentle help along the way.

Our guide to Dubai photoshoots with toddlers has more help if this is the part you’re thinking about most. For this session, start by telling us what you’d like to try and what would make the day harder. Perhaps they love being outside but need time to get used to new people. Perhaps the little snack break is the part to plan first. We can work with what you tell us about them.

Older children can be included in a way that suits them too. You might have one who loves joining in and another who would rather take a little time. Ask what they think of the outing, and let us know if there’s anything they’re unsure about. Our guide to including siblings in maternity photos focuses on that part of the plan.

Think about who will look after the children during pictures of you alone or with your partner. Agree that with a named adult before the day. Your photographer is there to take the photos; another grown-up needs to be looking after the little ones when you’re both in the picture. The same thought helps if your dog is coming: our maternity photoshoot guide with pets covers the extra place and helper checks.

Choose outfits you’ll be happy to put on

Start with something you love wearing for your own maternity photographs. Perhaps that’s a long dress you’ve been saving for the trip, a simple fitted dress or another outfit that feels much more like you. There’s no rule that says every family maternity photo has to begin with the same pale dress.

Once you’ve chosen yours, lay the other outfits beside it. A few colours that look nice together can be enough. Cream, soft blue and a little brown may work beautifully for one family; another might love a brighter colour, or a child’s favourite top that feels very much like them. You’re looking for clothes that sit happily together, rather than trying to dress everyone as the same person in several sizes.

Check the small things before packing. Can your child sit and move easily? Are the shoes already comfortable? Does your outfit need pulling back into place whenever you take a few steps? These are useful things to notice at home, when there’s still time to choose something else. A favourite outfit that feels good can be much nicer to wear than one you’re worrying about all morning.

For the beach or desert, think about wind as well as the look of the fabric. Bring shoes for the route, and decide what suits the actual ground when you get there. Bare feet are an option where the conditions allow, rather than part of a required family look.

One outfit each can keep things simple. If you’d love a second look, discuss the booked time and a suitable changing place first. Our Dubai maternity outfit guide has more ideas. You can still have a lovely mix of pictures without bringing enough clothes for the rest of the holiday too.

Pick a time that fits the family you’re bringing

There is the time of day you love in photographs, and there is the time your family would enjoy going out. It helps to look at both. A sunrise picture may be beautiful, but the alarm, getting dressed and the journey are part of choosing it too.

If early mornings suit you, a sunrise session might have a lovely place at the start of the day, with breakfast to look forward to afterwards. Work back from the actual meeting time with us. The light, temperature, wind and other people at the location depend on the day; sunrise does not promise a cool, empty beach.

If you’d rather get ready later, an evening session may fit your plans better. Think about meals, naps and the trip back as well as the photographs. A child who usually eats early may not be very interested in your beautiful sunset plans once dinner time has arrived. You can take that into account without giving up on an evening you’d enjoy.

The date and exact place matter too. We’ll look at the conditions for your visit with you and agree a suitable plan. The same month can bring different days, so the actual date is more useful than a fixed rule. In hot weather, a private indoor setting may be worth comparing with an outdoor session. We can help you look at the options for your dates and talk through what would happen if the weather changes the plan.

The little details between leaving and arriving

The photographs happen at the location, but your outing begins when you leave where you’re staying. Ask for the exact meeting point and entrance, and check how you’ll get there. It’s useful to know what comes after the car stops, especially if one adult will be carrying a bag while another has a child who would quite like to be carried as well.

Tell us if you need a short walk, a route that works with a pushchair or somewhere suitable to pause. We can check those details for the proposed spot. Let’s also check where you could find a toilet, shade, a seat or somewhere to change, if you need them. Knowing where they are in relation to the photo spot makes the whole visit easier to picture.

Keep the bag easy to carry. Water, the things your child normally needs and a familiar snack can be useful. Bring what fits your family, and think about where it will go during the photos. If a comfort toy is coming too, you can decide whether you’d like it in a picture or simply nearby. There’s no need to make a little person part with something important just because you’ve booked photographs.

Before the day, agree the return journey and any simple plan afterwards. You might head back to the hotel, find something to eat or carry on with your holiday. Leave enough room around the session that the next reservation doesn’t become the thing everyone is thinking about.

Make a simple plan, with room to change the order

Before booking, tell us which photographs come first for you. Perhaps that’s everyone together, some maternity pictures just of you and a few with your partner. We can help choose a session length around those wishes, the place and any pauses you’d like. Travaya’s current Dubai maternity packages offer 30, 60 or 90 minutes; we can help you compare them for the photographs and pace you want.

The order can follow the people and the day. If the children are ready to join in when you arrive, the family photographs may come early. If someone needs a little time, your photographer can work with the agreed plan and what is possible in the booked session. You do not need to arrive with a set of poses or a different family moment assigned to every few minutes.

When it’s time for photographs of you alone or with your partner, the adult you’ve agreed on can look after the children. Keep that part clear, including where they’ll wait. That little part of the session can belong to you too. You may spend plenty of this holiday taking pictures of everyone else; it can be lovely to have some of yourself to bring home.

You might like both a wider view and closer photographs. Tell us, and let your photographer guide the picture-making. Your part is to share what matters, ask for a pause when you need one and enjoy having your favourite people there. A child doing something unexpected is still your child; you don’t have to turn every small surprise into a problem to fix.

Later, you may find yourself choosing between the big Dubai view and a tiny detail you hadn’t thought much about before. That is part of the lovely possibility of making room for more than one kind of picture. The gallery can hold the place, the bump and your family together, without every photograph having to tell the whole story on its own.

Your family plan, ready for the day

Once the main choices are made, keep the confirmed details somewhere easy to find. Then you can spend a little less time looking for messages and a little more time looking forward to your photos.

- The people: who’s coming, which pictures matter most, and who will look after children during photographs of you alone or with your partner.
- The place: the exact meeting pin, entrance, route and any toilets, shade or seats you need nearby.
- The booking: the agreed time, session length, price and any separate location costs or photography permission.
- The clothes and small bag: outfits you’ve tried, suitable shoes, water and the little things your family normally needs.
- The day itself: getting ready, the journey, meals or naps to work around, and what happens if conditions change.
- The way back: an agreed journey home or a simple next stop, with time to enjoy the bit in between.

If something changes, tell us. The plan is there to help your actual family, so it makes sense to update it when your needs do. You’ve chosen a little time to remember this stage together. Now you can look forward to seeing yourselves in the pictures too.
