Give your photos a little space in the holiday

A few photos with everyone in them can be a lovely part of your Dubai holiday. The parent who usually holds the phone gets to stand beside the children too. Grandparents can join the picture if they are travelling with you, and you can bring home a little of the place you explored together.

When planning your Dubai photoshoot, look for some space in the holiday diary. A day early enough in your stay may leave room to discuss a change if needed. Give yourselves time to settle in after travelling as well. Your first morning might be for sleeping, breakfast and getting to know the hotel.

Tell us your travel dates and the outings you already have booked. Perhaps there is a morning with a quiet afternoon afterwards, or an evening near somewhere you want to eat. You can make the photos one part of a day you would enjoy together. Keep the meeting point and contact details handy once the plan is agreed.

If you would like a possible backup slot, ask about it when booking. Any change needs to fit availability and your booking terms. You can then decide how much space to leave in the rest of the trip.

Departure day can work too, with enough time for the session and the journey afterwards. Choose somewhere close to your accommodation, tell us when you need to leave and start with the family portraits that matter most. A focused 30-minute session or a simple 60-minute plan may fit. Compare the Dubai family packages with us, and use our family preparation guide to get the little details ready before you travel.

Choose the season and time around your family

Dubai's official weather guide highlights October to April for outdoor activities. Winter brings milder days, while spring and autumn can feel warmer. Think of that as your starting point, then look at the forecast for your dates and the kind of outing your family would enjoy.

If you are visiting in the hotter months, talk with us about the time outdoors, the walk and somewhere to take an indoor break. An early start may be one option; a suitable hotel setting may be another. Choose with the actual conditions in mind, including heat and humidity, and leave room to change the plan under your booking terms.

Sunrise brings a different feel to a beach or a desert view. The light can be softer and there may be fewer people around. The question for your family is how that start fits waking up, breakfast and naps after travelling. Tell your photographer what a good morning usually looks like for your children. Our Dubai guide for families with toddlers can help with that part of the plan.

Sunset may suit a family who likes an evening outing. You can take photos, then leave time for the next part of your evening. Popular beaches can be busy, especially at weekends, so discuss the exact meeting point and allow time to get there. A weekday is another option to consider.

Use the Dubai sunrise and sunset calendar for your actual date. Your photographer can work backwards from the light you want to agree when to meet. Keep breakfast, travel and getting ready in that plan too, so the start fits the people coming along.

Pick the place for the walk your family wants

Which view makes you want to stop and look: the sea, a little heritage lane or those wide desert dunes? Start there, then ask how the outing would work for your family. The walk from the car, the ground beneath your feet and the places to pause help turn a favourite picture into a plan you can enjoy.

Tell us about a buggy, walking limits or anyone who would like a seat nearby. You can choose a small part of a setting and spend time there. A few backgrounds, with room for close portraits as well, may be just what you want.

The beach. Sea, sand and a wide sky bring a lovely holiday feel to family photos. Sunset Beach, also called Umm Suqeim, has views of Burj Al Arab. Kite Beach is another setting to compare. Ask about the entrance, the distance across the sand and where you would finish. Your photographer can also help confirm the photography arrangements. Our family beach location guide has more help choosing a place.

Old Dubai. Wooden doors, warm-coloured walls and boats along Dubai Creek give you plenty to notice. You could plan a little walk through Al Fahidi or a selected stretch of Al Seef by the water. If you have a buggy or need a step-free route, ask for the actual surfaces and approach to be checked. Staying in one area can leave time to enjoy its small details. Our Old Dubai family guide explores this idea further.

Riverland. The French Village and waterfront offer another kind of setting. Take a look at our Riverland photoshoot guide if that is the view you like. Plan it as its own outing, with the journey, current entry arrangements and photography approval agreed before you choose it.

The desert. Dunes and open sky can give your holiday photos a wonderful sense of space. Find out how far you would walk from the meeting point and how your group feels about soft sand. Wind, heat and access need checking for the exact area. Our family desert location guide can help you discuss a plan for the people coming along.

Your hotel or resort. A garden or beach close to your room may be a lovely choice in its own right. It can mean fewer transfers and a familiar place for a pause. Ask the property which areas can be used for a professional family session and how your photographer should enter. Then you can build a short route around the places it has approved.

A little beach time, with space for everyone’s pace

Leave time to find the meeting point and get ready before the photos begin. Some children like to look around a new place first; others may prefer to stay beside you. Tell your photographer what usually helps them settle in. You know the people in your family, and that helps us plan the outing with you.

At Umm Suqeim, you might like the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab behind a family portrait. At Kite Beach, the sea and a wider beach scene may be what you want to remember. Choose the exact stretch around the light, access and space on the day. A small area can give you a wide view, closer pictures and a place to pause.

Bring a spare outfit for each child if sand or water may be part of the plan. You can choose to stay dry, take photos away from the water or spend time near the edge when conditions suit your family. Tell your photographer what you have in mind. A small towel and somewhere to keep spare clothes can be useful afterwards.

Pick clothes you like wearing together. Colours can sit nicely beside each other without everyone wearing the same outfit. Soft neutrals, creams or pastels are ideas to consider, with comfortable fabrics and shoes for the approach to the beach. Keep hairstyles and accessories simple enough for a breeze. Our Dubai family outfit guide has more ideas to look through.

A light bag can hold water, wipes, familiar easy-to-eat snacks and a small comfort item if your child likes one. Add the sun protection and other essentials you usually bring for your family. Plan a pause when it fits your children, with time to sit together or have a little snack. The session can follow how everyone feels as it goes along.

Think about the people you want beside each other in the photos. You may want everyone together, each parent with the children, a picture with grandparents or a few individual portraits. Share your favourites beforehand. Your photographer can begin with the most important groups and help fit the rest around the time you have.

If your family enjoys walking or playing, that can be part of the photos. A simple standing or seated portrait can be lovely too, with the place agreed. You can have pictures of the group together and the small moments between them, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

An Old Dubai route you can enjoy at your own speed

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood has winding lanes, traditional wind towers and old buildings to look at along the way. Al Seef brings you towards the Creek. There are wooden doors, waterfront views and plenty of small details to include beside the people in your photos.

Al Seef's operator describes the destination as extending for 1.8 kilometres. Pick a particular stretch with your photographer, so you know which part of the area you will enjoy. It is useful to agree where you meet, where you finish and how much walking happens between the two.

If Al Fahidi's lanes are your favourite, you can begin there and discuss adding part of Al Seef. If a simple waterfront route would fit your group better, ask about staying at Al Seef. Have the surfaces, steps and buggy access checked for the route you choose. You can still have several different pictures in one small area.

A morning meeting may suit the light you want. Confirm which places you can use at that hour, including any indoor spaces you hope to enter. Your photographer can help choose spots that leave doors and paths clear for the people using them. You may want a wider street scene, a close portrait beside a door and some photos with the water behind you.

Ask where a pause could fit, with somewhere suitable to sit and open facilities nearby. Have a drink or a familiar snack when your group needs it. A little time to look at the boats can be part of the outing if that is something your family enjoys.

An abra ride may be another part of your holiday, or an idea to discuss for a longer session. Check the RTA's current Creek boat information for the actual route and operating time. Agree travel, boarding needs, costs and photography arrangements beforehand. A 90-minute booking leaves more planning room, with any crossing included only if you have arranged it together.

Give a desert session its own travel and weather plan

A wide sky and the curves of the dunes can be a beautiful part of a Dubai holiday. Start the plan with the people coming along: who enjoys walking on sand, who would like a short approach and where you could pause. Ask your photographer for the meeting point and the walk from the car before choosing the setting.

Al Qudra and Lahbab are two areas to discuss. Dubai's official outdoor guide places Al Qudra Lakes in Al Marmoom and describes Lahbab's red sands. Your actual photo spot needs its own meeting point and access plan. Allow time for the drive both ways, traffic and getting everyone ready.

Tell your photographer what you like about the setting. It may be a wide view of the dunes with everyone together, the warm colour of the sand or some closer portraits beneath an open sky. You can also talk about how much walking you would enjoy. The route can start with those preferences and the places available for your date.

Wind and weather need checking close to the day. Agree who will contact you, when you will make the decision and what changes are possible under your booking terms. If the conditions do not suit your group, discuss another time or setting before leaving for the meeting point.

A beach or hotel session may be a backup option, with its own weather and access checked first. Include the journey and any change in cost in the conversation. If you have room in the holiday, a possible alternative slot may help, subject to availability. You can choose a plan you understand before the day arrives.

Photos at your hotel or resort: arrange the details first

Perhaps your favourite place is already close to your room: a garden, a beach or a building you enjoy seeing each day. A session at your accommodation can let you keep that part of the holiday in your photos. Our guide to photos at your own resort can help you start planning.

Ask the property about professional photography in the exact spaces you want to use. Confirm the time, any fee or written approval, and how your photographer should check in. It helps to ask what information or equipment details the property needs before arrival. Your guest access and the photographer's access can be different.

Once those details are agreed, tell your photographer which areas the hotel has approved. You can plan a short walk, a place to pause and an easy way back to your room. If you would like photos in a garden, beside the water or indoors, include those ideas in the request.

The hotel may have other guests, events or areas reserved for a different use. Ask about another approved spot if your first choice is busy. You can then keep the session close to the places you know, with the arrangements already discussed for your date.

From your first message to the photos you bring home

Your first message can be simple. Tell us your travel dates, who is coming and the places that caught your eye. You will speak with Charlotte and Collin, the people behind Travaya. We can help you choose a location, time and 30, 60 or 90 minute package, then arrange your photographer and guide you through confirming the booking.

Bring your questions about naps, walking or clothes into that conversation. You can also share which family groups and views matter most. The plan can make room for the parts of your holiday you want to remember, with the access and practical arrangements confirmed before you meet.

After the shoot, the photos come back to us for editing in our warm, natural style. Your finished photos arrive in a private online gallery within 5 days, as described in our current Dubai family packages. You can download the high-resolution files, share the gallery with relatives and choose favourites to print.

When the holiday is over, those photos can become a small album, a print for home or something to send to grandparents who could not join you. The people who usually take the pictures will have a place in them too. You can decide what you would like to do with your favourites once you have seen the gallery.
