On their sixth visit, time for photographs

Athens was already one of this couple’s favourite cities. They had visited five times before, but had never made time for a proper photoshoot together. With Santorini and Mykonos next on their Greek itinerary, this visit was their chance to change that. We met in the morning for couple portraits with an Athens photographer, making a little space for the city before the islands.

A classical corner of a favourite city

We met at the historic National Library of Greece, with its sweeping marble stairs and impressive columns. The photographs also took in the nearby Academy of Athens, whose pale facade and sculpted details gave their portraits a beautiful sense of place. It was a lovely setting for a couple who already knew the city well and wanted to be in the photographs together this time.

Cream outfits and pale marble

Their outfits fitted the surroundings beautifully: her flowing cream dress beside his pale shirt and trousers, with the marble and greenery around them. We mixed the wider architectural scenes with closer portraits and photographs around the stone ledges. The soft morning light helped the colours sit naturally together, giving the gallery a simple, warm feel.

A memory before the next island

The National Library’s curved staircase gave us another lovely setting, with carved railings, tall columns and cypress trees framing the couple. We let those details show in the wider photographs and kept their connection at the centre of the closer ones.

Before the journey continued to Santorini and Mykonos, they had finally made time for a shared memory in the city they kept returning to.
