Blue florals above the city

There is a playful feel running through this couple’s Philopappos Hill gallery. Her blue floral outfit brought movement and pattern to the pale paths, while his grey T-shirt kept their look simple. We photographed them together among the trees and rocks, making the Acropolis part of their Athens couple photography.

A little space to be together

Some of the loveliest photographs here are the uncomplicated ones: sitting on a rock, standing close beside the trees or looking at each other with the city beyond them. We used both wider compositions and closer portraits, so the blue outfit could stand out against the greenery without the surroundings taking over. It is a lovely example of how a simple outfit pairing can give a whole gallery a recognisable feel.

The Acropolis, from near and far

The view gave the shoot its sense of place. In some photographs, the Parthenon sits clearly between the couple; in others, it becomes a softer detail behind a close portrait. We kept that variety through the walking and standing pictures, too. A little twirl, an open stretch of path and a different angle towards the skyline all brought something new to the set without changing its easy rhythm.

The moments that make the gallery theirs

The smiles and playful embraces are what tie these photographs together. Alongside the big view, there are smaller pictures of the couple holding hands, leaning together and sharing a laugh. A selection in black and white adds a different texture among the blue, green and warm stone. The finished gallery keeps the familiar Athens backdrop, while giving just as much room to the two people in front of it.
