A little red against the Athens skyline

Her red dress brought such a lovely splash of colour to this couple photoshoot in Athens. With his pale shirt and trousers beside her, the two of them stood out beautifully against the rocks and greenery near Philopappos Monument. And just behind them was a rather special backdrop: the Acropolis.

The city in the background, the couple at the centre

We made use of the rocky viewpoint for photographs that gave both the couple and the landscape room. In the wider pictures, the trees, pale ground and distant buildings are part of the memory. Moving a little closer brought a different feel: their faces became the focus, while the Acropolis still made it unmistakably Athens. That mix helped the gallery feel personal as well as full of place.

A walk across the open hillside

There was a lovely contrast between the more intimate portraits and the photographs with space around them. We photographed the couple holding hands on the open hillside, with the dress adding a bright thread through the warm, earthy colours. Rather than filling every picture with the same view, the different distances let the setting change around them. Sometimes the Acropolis feels close; elsewhere, the landscape opens right out.

Colour, closeness and a few quieter frames

The colour photographs make the most of that red dress, but the black-and-white pictures bring something else to the set. They draw attention to the couple together, the texture of the rocks and the outlines of the buildings. Alongside the wider views, the close portraits preserve a smaller part of their time here: standing together, looking at one another and sharing the frame with Athens.
