A little Budapest walk together

For this Budapest photoshoot for two, we spent time around the Opera and St Stephen’s Basilica, with a few city-street moments along the way. Her striped top and black skirt, and his soft brown shirt, were such a lovely match for the warm stone and carved wood. We kept the photographs relaxed, mixing the grand façades with the small details you notice while walking through the city.

Warm stone and carved doors at the Opera

The Opera gave us so much to work with: beautiful wooden doors, pale stone columns and deep arches full of detail. We made photographs around the entrance and on the steps, and brought the surrounding streets into the gallery too. There is a lovely contrast between the bigger architectural views and the closer portraits against the wood and stone. Their simple brown, cream and black outfits fitted right into that setting, with her striped top adding just enough pattern to keep everything playful.

A yellow metro sign and the Basilica’s dome

The little metro entrance was a lovely change of scene. Its yellow sign and curved stone balustrade brought another bit of Budapest into the photographs, while the steps gave us a different viewpoint. Around St Stephen’s Basilica, we had both the open square and smaller corners beside the building: carved balustrades, tall stone walls and leafy trees. We used that mix for a gallery with room for the city as well as the two of them. A few black-and-white portraits bring out the lines of the buildings beautifully, alongside the warm colours of the rest of the shoot.
