A Czech family, at their own pace

This Czech family wanted photographs of the four of them with the Hungarian Parliament in the backdrop. Their children, aged one and three, brought plenty of energy to the session. Running around was often more interesting than standing still for a photograph. With their family photographer in Budapest, they captured lovely moments that made room for the children’s personalities and this stage of family life.

A Parliament backdrop, a family story

Parliament’s dome and pale stone façade gave the family the Budapest backdrop they wanted. Around the gardens, there were photographs of all four together, with the children perched on their parents’ shoulders. Wider frames included the building’s detail, while closer photographs brought attention back to the family: a parent’s smile, a small hand resting on a shoulder, the children looking around from their higher view.

Following the children’s lead

The children’s energy shaped the session. There were moments when moving around held much more appeal than standing for a picture. The family walked hand in hand across the square and played together in a little circle. Between the bigger family frames, there were smaller moments too: the children holding each other’s hands or sitting close on the paving. These photographs showed their personalities and the connection between them.

The little things worth remembering

Alongside the running and exploring, the collection holds the quieter details: time in parents’ arms, a shared seat on the bench and a small cuddle between the two children. A few photographs with a yellow tram added another Budapest detail. The finished gallery keeps a little of this stage of family life: their expressions, their closeness and the energy of being one and three.
