Their engagement, among the gardens and old streets

There is a lovely mix of London around St Paul’s: leafy gardens, a cathedral dome above the rooftops and old streets with flower-filled windows. We photographed this couple’s engagement among all of it, with her ivory dress and his pale-blue shirt bringing soft colours to each setting. From the garden benches to the cathedral columns, this engagement photoshoot in London gave their photographs plenty of variety while keeping the two of them at the heart of it.

Flowers, garden paths and a place together

Her ivory dress looked lovely beside the reddish flowers, with its soft layers against all that green. His pale-blue shirt and tan trousers fitted the garden colours beautifully, too. We photographed them on the paths and wooden benches, as well as beside the curved reflection pool with St Paul’s above the trees. The garden gave their engagement pictures room for both the big cathedral view and closer portraits of the two of them. A bench among the flowers made just as lovely a setting as that famous dome.

A little old London around the corner

The dark windows and flower boxes at Ye Olde Watling gave us another lovely background for their engagement portraits. Along Watling Street, the cathedral dome appeared between the buildings, bringing St Paul’s into their street photographs as well. We also included the pale stone doorway, old-fashioned lamp and red telephone box near the cathedral. There is so much character in these little details, especially with the soft colours of their outfits among the old doors, brickwork and bright red paint.

Together, with the cathedral around them

Around the cathedral, tall columns, broad steps and a chequered floor gave their portraits a different feel again. We left room for the stonework in some photographs and came closer to the couple in others, with the dome also appearing in the view from the steps. The black-and-white portraits bring the patterns of the building into the collection alongside all those garden and street colours. Their engagement is what connects these places in one Travaya gallery, from a bench among the flowers to the beautiful old cathedral.
