London in the picture, all three of them in it

Big Ben gave this family’s photographs a wonderfully recognisable London setting, but the three of them brought the playfulness. We photographed the parents and their child around Westminster, from broad river views to a bright wall of hearts and a red telephone box. Their dark, warm-toned outfits sat beautifully against the pale stone and flashes of red. With their London family photographer, there was room in the gallery for everyone together, little solo moments and portraits of the parents too.

A little room to play by Big Ben

The open view around Parliament Square worked beautifully for the livelier family photographs. With their arms out and Big Ben rising behind them, the portraits have a lovely sense of movement. We kept the setting visible in wider photographs, then came closer for the family together. Mixing those views gives the gallery more than one way to remember the place: the scale of the landmark, the familiar faces and the fun of being in the same picture.

Red hearts and a classic telephone box

The heart-covered wall brought a different kind of colour to the shoot. Its bright pattern made a lovely backdrop for the three of them, whether standing together or leaving a little space between them. The red telephone box added another playful London detail, with their child taking a turn in the doorway and appearing in a few photographs of their own. We included colour and black-and-white portraits here, keeping those different expressions and little moments throughout the gallery.

Photographs of the parents, too

Beside the Thames, Westminster Bridge and Big Ben opened out across the water. That view gave the parents a lovely setting for photographs together, alongside the family portraits and pictures of their child. It’s a small but meaningful part of the finished collection: everyone appears in their own way, and all three share the photographs together. From the riverside to the colourful street details, the gallery keeps this family at the centre of a very London day.
