A little chapter worth keeping

Her daughter was two, and this mother wanted photographs of the two of them together at this lovely stage. Their family photoshoot in Prague unfolded in Old Town, with a little shyness at the start and a growing sense of play as the session went on. The photographs made room for both.

A gentle beginning in Old Town

At first, the little girl was a little shy in front of the camera. A stone doorstep and a patterned wooden doorway gave her a place to sit, with her mother close by. In an orange knitted cape, she brought a bright splash of colour to the old walls. Her mother sat beside her and turned towards her for a smile. These early frames kept the pace gentle, leaving space for small looks and moments together rather than asking every photograph to feel the same.

From shy smiles to playful moments

It did not take long for her playful side to appear. In front of the Astronomical Clock, mother and daughter held hands, walked across the patterned pavement and paused for cuddles. By the wooden entrance, her mother crouched to her height for a kiss. There were portraits together and a few of the little girl on her own, including the smiles that came once she had settled into the session. The historic streets set the scene, while their own interaction gave each photograph its character.

The comfort of being close

Later photographs returned to the closeness of an embrace: her daughter held in her arms, a laugh shared beside the stone wall and a little hand wrapped around her mother’s. The series kept a record of being two, from the first quiet moments to the playfulness that followed, and of the mother who was there beside her.
