A little Barcelona magic, together

This local couple joined us for a romantic evening in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. We explored the narrow streets after sunset, with historic buildings around us and streetlights beginning to glow. Spending time with a Barcelona photographer became a lovely way to capture the two of them in the city, from the cathedral’s grand doorway to the neighbourhood’s smaller, lamp-lit corners.

Flowers, warm stone and grand old doorways

Her white dress with pink flowers brought a lovely softness to the old stone surroundings. His dark shirt and light shorts worked beautifully alongside it, keeping their outfits relaxed against the carved doorways and Gothic details. We included the grand entrance of Barcelona Cathedral, the broad steps at Plaça del Rei and smaller corners of the neighbourhood. Those settings gave the photographs plenty of variety, from portraits with the architecture all around them to closer pictures that keep the focus on the couple.

The glow of the narrow lanes

As the streetlights began to glow, the Gothic Quarter took on the romantic atmosphere they had come to explore. The lamps beneath Pont del Bisbe and around the old stone archways added warm touches to the photographs, while the narrow lanes brought their own character. Alongside the colour images, the black-and-white photographs give the stone textures and quieter portraits another lovely feel. We kept both in their gallery: the warmth of Barcelona in colour, and a different view of the same evening in black and white.

The city around them

That is what we love about a shoot like this: the Gothic Quarter becomes part of the memories, with familiar landmarks and small, lamp-lit corners sitting together in one gallery. There is room for the scale of the buildings and for simple portraits of the two of them, all from a little time spent exploring together.
