Their family, in the city they call home

This Spanish family wanted photographs to remember their life in their beloved Barcelona. With their one-and-a-half-year-old and their dog along for the walk, El Born became the setting for a collection of everyday moments together. Their Barcelona family photoshoot brings together the whole family, little walks and portraits among the neighbourhood’s stone lanes and doorways.

Little steps through El Born

The photographs begin in narrow streets, with balconies, old walls and strings of lights overhead. Their toddler walks between them, holding a hand on each side, before returning to their arms for a cuddle. There are portraits of the parents on their own too, walking together along a shop-lined street. The wider frames leave room for the buildings around them; closer pictures bring the attention back to their faces and linked hands.

Room for play, and for the family dog

On the stone steps, the family gather together with their dog at the front of the picture. A tall doorway and carved stonework give these portraits a different backdrop from the open street. In a nearby passage, the pace changes again: their little one is lifted above the parents, then held between them for smiling portraits. These small changes make room for both playful photographs and quieter moments together.

The little details of their Barcelona life

Wooden doors and colourful bunting add another part of El Born to the collection. There are photographs of father and child, portraits with the dog and frames of all three beneath the flags.
