A tiny picture, a very big chapter

Big Ben had some very small competition on this maternity shoot: a tiny ultrasound picture. With a baby on the way, these two had something especially lovely to celebrate among Westminster’s familiar sights. Her bright blue dress stood out beautifully beside the red telephone box, giving their maternity photoshoot in London a colourful setting for a very personal chapter.

A little blue, a little red, a lot of London

We photographed them together beside the telephone box and on Westminster Bridge, with Big Ben towering behind. Her blue dress and his pale blue shirt looked lovely against the red paintwork and warm stone of Westminster. There was room for her own maternity portraits, too, with the dress bringing a bright sweep of colour to those grand London views. For this Travaya shoot, we kept the two of them at the heart of all that city scenery: a couple, a baby bump and a very recognisable place to remember it.

The littlest person in the picture

The ultrasound picture was such a sweet little addition. Held beside the telephone box or up in front of Big Ben, it brought a tiny glimpse of the baby into photographs of the two people waiting to meet them. We also made closer photographs of their hands around the bump, giving that personal part of the shoot its own space. For all the famous surroundings, the smallest things gave this shoot its meaning: a bump, a scan and a little life still to come. Together, they make a lovely reminder of this particular moment before the baby arrives.
