A Little Time to Enjoy Being Engaged
In Al Fahidi, the lanes lead between warm-coloured walls, wooden doors and buildings with wind towers above them, designed to help keep the houses cool. There are courtyards, galleries and cafés to discover as you go. A turn in the path can bring another door, a patch of shade or a view up between the buildings. If you love taking your time in an old neighbourhood, there is plenty here to catch your eye.
Nearby Al Seef brings you out towards Dubai Creek. You can see the water and boats, with places for a drink or a meal along the waterfront. Al Seef is newer, with parts built to look like old Dubai. The historic Al Fahidi neighbourhood and Al Seef’s waterside setting each have their own part to play in your day.
Think about which part you would most enjoy. Perhaps it is finding a favourite little lane together. Perhaps it is seeing the boats on the Creek, then sitting down for something cool to drink. Your photographs can hold both the people you are now and a place you were happy to spend time in. That is a lovely reason to put a date in the diary.
Choose the Setting That Feels Like Your Day
The lanes bring you near the buildings: the patterns carved into a wooden door, a stretch of warm stone, a courtyard you would like to look into. By the Creek, there is more open space in the view. Water, boats and the buildings along the bank can become part of a wider picture of your trip. You can enjoy one of these settings on its own, or ask us to plan a route that brings them together.
If you are picturing towers and an evening by the Marina instead, our Dubai Marina couple photoshoot guide describes that different kind of outing. A beach session may be closer to what you have in mind if you would love the sea and sand in your photographs. These are separate places to choose between when making your plan.
Have a little chat about what you would like to remember. It could be the neighbourhood you explored on your engagement trip, an afternoon together before dinner or a setting you have wanted to visit for ages. Once you have that picture in mind, choosing the place becomes part of the fun. You are planning something for yourselves, with room for your own tastes.
A Walk Through Al Fahidi and Al Seef
Al Seef offers a different part of the outing. Its waterside paths, places to eat and views across the Creek give you a reason to linger near the water. You might love finishing here with a drink or choosing somewhere for a meal afterwards. The route can follow the parts of both areas that interest you, rather than trying to visit every corner.
Starting in Al Fahidi and ending at Al Seef is one option, not a rule for every couple. We’ll look at your date, the light, the exact places you want to include and whether the places can be used for your photos before choosing the order. Morning may suit an early start to your holiday day, while a later session could fit your evening plans. The shade changes, and both areas are shared with other visitors. There is no fixed hour when the lanes are always empty.
For a 30-minute booking, one small area gives you more time to enjoy being there. With 60 minutes, tell us if you would like parts of both Al Fahidi and Al Seef, and we can check whether the chosen stops and walking fit. A 90-minute session leaves more room for the agreed route and pauses. The actual distance depends on your meeting point and where you finish, so we’ll work it out around those places.
A boat ride can be a lovely extra to your day, too. Looking back towards the buildings from Dubai Creek gives you another way to enjoy the area. If you would like an abra ride in the session, agree the route, boat, waiting time, who is joining and any photographs on board with us beforehand. RTA’s Dubai Creek abra information sets out the services. A crossing or private trip needs its own plan; a longer photoshoot does not automatically include one.

Enjoy the Place, With Someone to Take the Photos
Choosing somewhere you want to visit gives the outing its own interest. In Al Fahidi, you might be drawn to the doors, the wind towers or the spaces tucked between buildings. At Al Seef, there are boats to watch and a view across the Creek. These are things you can enjoy together while your photographer looks after the photographs.
There is no need to learn a list of movements for every stop. Your photographer can help during the session, and you can say if something feels uncomfortable or if you would like a pause. Some people settle in quickly; others need more time. We’ll plan around the people joining, with room to discuss what would make the day easier for you.
An engagement shoot can also help you discover which kinds of pictures you enjoy. You might find you like a wider view of the place, or prefer a close photograph together. You can share those thoughts with your wedding photographer later. If getting to know that particular person is your main reason for a session, arrange it with them; a separate Travaya travel session may be with someone else.
Relaxed Moments in the Al Fahidi Lanes

Wear Something You Would Love for a Day Together
Cream, soft pink, warm brown or a gentle green can sit nicely with the sandy colours of the lanes. You can also wear a colour you enjoy. These are ideas to try, rather than rules that every couple has to follow. Look at your choices together and see whether they feel like you and the place you are looking forward to visiting.
Think about how the clothes feel as well as how they look. Try walking and sitting in them, including the shoes you plan to bring. Check for anything you keep adjusting, or a layer you might want for your plans before and after the shoot. Light fabrics can suit a warm day, with the weather for your date in mind. Comfortable shoes make it easier to enjoy a walk through the area.
One outfit each can give you a simple start. If you would like to change, tell us before booking so we can consider the time and a private place to change. A favourite jacket or another light layer can offer a small change too. Our engagement outfit guide has more ideas for clothes you would feel happy wearing on your day.
Have those little details ready before leaving your hotel: clothes you can enjoy, shoes for your walk and anything you have agreed to bring. Then there is more room to look forward to the person beside you and the places you are about to see. The outfit is there to be part of your own lovely outing.
A Lovely Part of Your Engagement to Keep
You might find a place for one of those photographs beside your wedding picture at home. They can tell two different parts of your story. One could hold the celebration; the other could bring you back to a morning when you had breakfast after your shoot and stayed a little longer by the water. These are things you can choose to make part of your own outing.
If you are still deciding whether to book a session, our guide to whether engagement photos are worth it considers the pictures, money and time involved. Check whether your wedding photography plans already include an engagement session and what it covers. A separate session in Dubai is something you can choose for this trip and these photographs.
Let the day have a place in your plans that feels right for you. It might be an hour before breakfast or a little celebration before an evening out. There is room for a simple reason: you are engaged, you like this part of Dubai and you would love a photograph together here.
Bring Your Favourite Ideas Into One Easy Plan
We’ll help plan a route that fits and arrange a photographer who suits your ideas. Together, we’ll agree the meeting point, time and package. A public lane, a café courtyard and a boat ride can involve different arrangements. We’ll check what is possible for your chosen places, including any permission, entry or extra costs, rather than building the plan around a spot you may not be able to use.
Leave a little room after the session if you would enjoy staying in the area. You could have breakfast, find somewhere for a drink or make the walk part of a longer day by the Creek. Agree any table booking around the actual finish time. Once the plans are in place, you can look forward to spending a little time here together.

Questions About Engagement Photos in Old Dubai
Start with the place you most want to enjoy, then agree the order with us. Al Fahidi can suit the historic lanes, while Al Seef brings you beside Dubai Creek. We consider your date, the light, exact stops, walking and whether the places can be used for photos before setting the route. Al Fahidi first is one option, rather than a rule for every session.
Work back from when you need the pictures. Agree when the finished photos will be ready, then leave time to choose photographs, make your cards or website and arrange any printing. If the photos are mainly for yourselves, choose a date around your own plans and the available session. You do not need to fit a fixed two-to-five-month window.
It may, with a route that fits and enough booked time. Tell us if you want both the lanes and the Creek in your pictures. We’ll check the places you want to visit and the time to walk between them before agreeing what fits. For a short session, one area can be a lovely choice on its own. Any boat ride needs separate arrangements.
It can suit you if you would enjoy exploring the area together. Tell us what you feel unsure about before the day, so we can discuss the guidance and pace you would like. You can ask for help or a pause during the session. There is no set time by which everyone has to feel relaxed.
Tell us what you are making before booking, including whether the design needs a wide or tall picture. Agree the photographs included and when the finished photographs will be ready. Then you can choose images for your cards, website, prints or a display at the wedding, with time for design and printing.
